the greatest of secrets…
… I have found reside in the people around me.
Sunday I saw a group of people at a Street Party that captured my eye, would not let go. They kindly welcomed me into the circle for a few to photograph them. Brief introductions, some laughter, conversation about what their 8 days in Houston had been like and then some photographs.
Beauty like I encountered below inspires me to want to grow in my craft of photography, seek the stories out that are not being told and share the beauty we often miss.
And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.

Lar Art Iphoneography Framed Prints for Sell
One of my delights in life is narrating life through the lens of my iPhone 4 and creating art with it. I recently decided to exhibit my iphoneography art and sell limited framed 4inby4in prints of selected photographs. Each is matted and framed in a 8inby8in frame.
Below are the first four I have chosen to sell for $25 plus S&H for each framed print.
If you are interested in purchasing one of these you can contact me at:

Close but So Far
When Your Mind’s Made Up
-The Swell Season-
So, if you ever want something
And you call, call
Then I’ll come running
To fight, and I’ll be at your door
When there’s nothing worth running for
When your mind’s made up
When your mind’s made up
There’s no point trying to change it
When your mind’s made up
When your mind’s made up
There’s no point trying to stop it
You see, you’re just like everyone
When the shit falls all you want to do is run, away
And hide all by yourself
When you’re far from me, there’s nothing else
When your mind’s made up
When your mind’s made up
There’s no point trying to change it
When your mind’s made up
When your mind’s made up
There’s no point even talking
When your mind’s made up
When your mind’s made up
There’s no point trying to fight it
So, if you ever want something
And you call, call
Then I’ll come running

The World is a Beautiful Place
by Lawrence Ferlinghetti
The world is a beautiful place/to be born into if you don’t mind happiness/not always being so much fun/if you don’t mind a touch of hell/now and then just when everything is fine/because even in heaven they don’t sing/all the time
The world is a beautiful place/to be born into/if you don’t mind some people dying/all the time or maybe only starving/some of the time/which isn’t half bad/If it isn’t you
My sister introduced me to this poem a couple of years ago, and I have not been able to shake it. It is probably one of my favorite pieces. It along with the Gospel of Luke, some of Tupac’s best stuff, lots of hours received within the walls of Duke Divinity and countless conversations with an irreplaceable friend keep my eyes focused and always aware of what’s real.
This photograph was created during a walk around Union Square while in NYC on holiday for Christmas.
